Close Encounters of the Worst Kind
(A Brewster Rockit, Space Guy! collection)
Tim Rickard
Andrews McMeel Publishing
Fiction, Humor
*****

DESCRIPTION: As captain of Earth’s space station R.U. Sirius, clueless hero Brewster Rockit and his crew – including trigger-happy Pam, lazy engineer Cliff, devious Dr. Mel, his chipper young lab assistant Winky, and Bucky the Robot (who looks suspiciously like a bucket on a coat rack) – face all manner of foes, from alien invaders to giant space squids.

REVIEW: I’ve been following Brewster Rockit online for some time, and was thrilled that Rickard finally put out a collection. Hilariously clever skewering of sci-fi new and old, highly recommended to sci-fi fans. (The lack of a second volume makes me suspect that the many sci-fi references have lead to legal issues for Rickard. I still hope to see more printed collections of this strip, though I don't expect I should get my hopes too high.)
